The Suicide Squad: James Gunn Teases Secret Guardians Cast Member Cameo - Screen Rant

James Gunn teases a Guardians of the Galaxy cast member has a secret cameo in The Suicide Squad, and he's shocked no one has noticed yet. Gunn has shown the desire to rework with actors throughout his filmmaking career. This continued when he took control of the Suicide Squad franchise for Warner Bros. and DC Films. While the movie stars high-profile names like Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, and John Cena, whom he hasn't worked with before, Gunn included plenty of his former collaborators in his jump to the DC Extended Universe.

In multiple instances, this meant bringing actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise over to the DCEU. He nearly had Dave Bautista play an unspecified role, but that didn't work due to scheduling conflicts. Still, Gunn brought Sylvester Stallone, Steve Agee, Sean Gunn, Mikaela Hoover, Nathan Fillion, and Michael Rooker to The Suicide Squad after directing each of them in the MCU. All of these actors were previously confirmed to be working with Gunn again in the DCEU setting, but it appears there is another Guardians of the Galaxy star secretly in Suicide Squad 2.

As Gunn winds down his press tour obligations for The Suicide Squad, he appeared on the latest episode of Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused Podcast. The lengthy conversation included Horowitz mentioning how many MCU actors Gunn brought to the DCEU for his movie and asking the director if he was tempted to include even more Guardians of the Galaxy stars. This is when Gunn teased that there is a secret cast member from his MCU films in The Suicide Squad that audiences have yet to discover. Read what he said below:

Well, I mean people know I almost cast Dave [Bautista] in a role and he couldn't do it, so he didn't. Other than that, well, there might be a Guardian somewhere in the film that no one has seen yet and I'm so surprised by... I've gotten a hundred reviews from this movie and I'm just astounded.

Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 team featured

Gunn has worked with a large group of actors during his time with the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, and he's keeping details on this cameo a secret for now. He wouldn't elaborate on whether the actor physically appears or if this is a vocal cameo only. In any case, Gunn is under the assumption that someone will figure out which Guardians of the Galaxy alum is in The Suicide Squad soon, especially with the movie finally hitting theaters in the United States and being available on HBO Max for fans to comb through it to find the cameo.

The most notable get for The Suicide Squad would be franchise stars like Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, or Karen Gillan. Gunn also may have found a way for Bradley Cooper or Vin Diesel to lend their voices to the movie in some capacity. But, with a long list of stars that includes Kurt Russell, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Glenn Close, John C. Reilly, Lee Pace, Benicio del Toro, Michelle Yeoh, Ving Rhames, and more, there are plenty of familiar faces from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies who could have this secret The Suicide Squad cameo.
